We’re committed to helping communities improve their homes’ energy performance. That’s why we were proud to support Burnham and Weston Energy C.I.C’s home energy efficiency project launch, helping local homeowners, renters and landlords explore ways to make their homes warmer, greener and cheaper to run.
About the Project
This initiative, funded by the Community Energy Fund, is testing a hyperlocal model for making home energy efficiency upgrades more accessible and affordable. In partnership with the Centre for Energy Equality, the project is using the Fairer Warmth app to assess retrofit potential based on a home’s EPC rating, age and other features.
How It Works
- Residents in Burnham-on-Sea North, Highbridge and Burnham South can update their property details via the Fairer Warmth platform to contribute to a community-wide assessment of retrofit needs.
- Burnham and Weston Energy will select 10 homes that best represent the local housing stock for free professional retrofit assessments.
- These assessments will create retrofit roadmaps that outline the most impactful energy efficiency upgrades and set cost benchmarks for future improvements.
- Crucially, these findings won’t just benefit the selected households – the insights will be shared across the community, helping other residents understand practical and cost-effective ways to improve their own homes.
Our Role
As the project’s retrofit assessment and testing provider, we are:
- Conducting comprehensive retrofit assessments for the selected homes.
- Using the assessment results to identify key energy-saving opportunities.
- Providing detailed reports outlining the best strategies for improving energy efficiency, comfort and cost savings.
At the project launch event, our Operations Coordinator, Tegan Peach, presented on the retrofit assessment process, explaining how detailed testing and analysis help pinpoint the most effective energy efficiency upgrades for each home.
We also heard from:
- Lesley Millard – Burnham and Highbridge Green Team CIO
- Jake Burnyeat and Krista Felek – Burnham & Weston Energy
- Chris Gaskell – Centre for Energy Equality
